KABASALAN, Zamboanga Sibugay (PIA) - The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Zamboanga Sibugay 2nd District Engineering Office undertook the rehabilitation and strengthening of the deteriorating Kabasalan bridge in Zamboanga Sibugay.
Spanning 69.84 linear meters, the bridge's overhaul ensures enhanced safety for motorists who can now traverse it without the threats posed by its previous state.
The completion of this repair guarantees the safety of those crossing the bridge and also marks a crucial infrastructure upgrade for the province. The P10 million investment from General Appropriations Act 2023 has played a pivotal role in fortifying the bridge's structural integrity, mitigating potential risks, and providing a safer transportation route for the community.
Mico Pasage, a student and resident of Kabasalan, expressed his appreciation for the repair of the bridge, highlighting the importance of a safe infrastructure for his daily commute.
“Before the repair, the bridge was not totally safe for people passing by. That is why I am thankful for the initiative because it assures safety for motorists like me. Every day I pass by the bridge going to school, and I feel safer now,” Pasage said.
