Makati City Library opens book fair

MAKATI CITY, (PIA) -- Good news! In celebration of the 65th Public Library Day, the City Government of Makati opened a book fair led by the Education Department at Makati City Hall.

Makati City Mayor Abby Binay encouraged literacy development and love for reading among residents through city-led education initiatives such as mobile libraries, digital library integration, and book fairs.

The week-long book fair will allow everyone to explore and avail varied art supplies, storybooks written by local authors, and books from different genres until Friday, March 15 at the Makati City Hall I ground floor, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

By virtue of Proclamation No. 563, s. 1959, every 9th of March is declared as “Public Library Day.”

The National Library of the Philippines, together with all public libraries and barangay reading centers nationwide, will celebrate the 65th Public Library Day with the theme: “Ikaw, Ako, at ang Pampublikong Aklatan: Higit Animnapu’t Limang Taong Pagtutugunan.”

This year’s theme focuses on the meeting and cooperation of three important institutions in the growth of public libraries – the National Library of the Philippines, the various sectors of the community, and the public libraries. (Makati City/PIA-NCR)
