LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte (PIA) -- The Israel Ambassador to the Philippines Ilan Fluss was recently in Ilocos Norte to personally visit the recipients of the shelter repair kits in Laoag City.

About 25 beneficiaries in the city, whose houses were damaged by Super Typhoon Egay in July 2023, were helped by the Embassy of Israel in the Philippines through the donation of shelter repair kits.

Each beneficiary received P10,000 worth of shelter repair kits comprising essential roofing materials to aid affected families.

The Israel embassy partnered with the Caritas Nueva Segovia and Diocese Social Action Center of Laoag.

“After typhoon Egay, there was a lot of effort to provide immediate assistance. We have decided to help in the reconstruction of the houses that were affected by the typhoon,” said Fluss.

The ambassador said he was elated to see the positive impact of their assistance in the lives of the beneficiaries, especially surviving after the onslaught of the super typhoon.

“It brings me great joy to witness the positive impact of our humble assistance. I am thankful to the residents for their warm welcome and allowing me to visit in their homes. They willingly shared with me stories of survival and hope when the typhoon hit the province,” added Fluss.

Meanwhile, Bishop Renato Mayugba of the Diocese of Laoag experessed his gratitude to the Israel Embassy and to the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) Episcopal Commission on Social Action, Justice, and Peace for the help extended to the typhoon victims.

In response, the Israeli ambassador relayed his commitment to assist those in need in the country.
