DPWH completes P98-M flood control project in Nueva Vizcaya

KAYAPA, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) -- The Department of Public Works and Highways has completed a flood control project in Kayapa, Nueva Vizcaya.

DPWH 2nd District Engineer Marlyn Inguillo said the completion of the more than P98 million flood control project at Sitio Paitug in Barangay San Fabian will serve as protection for the villagers and their agricultural plantations from destructive floods.

The project, funded under the General Appropriations Act of 2023, involves the construction of concrete rubble revetment structures with 12 inches of protection provided by gabion mattress footings and pipeline culverts, spanning a total of 1,647 linear meters.

“The place is susceptible to flooding and erosion during typhoons, and the completion of the flood control structure will mitigate risks to the lives and properties of the residents. This project is a proactive measure to mitigate the disastrous effects of flooding, thus providing a safer environment for the villagers," Inguillo said.

She said the implementation of flood control structures in the province is a notable advancement in the ongoing efforts of their agency to enhance public safety and bolster the resilience of the residents to natural disasters.
