DTI, construction industry experts conduct summit on product standards

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) - The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Regional Office 2 and construction industry experts jointly conducted the 1st Cagayan Valley Multi-Industry Summit on Product Standards in Santiago City recently as part of the observance of the 2024 Consumer Rights Day.

The summit aims to advocate to the business establishments in the region the necessity of recognizing construction materials that are marked with Product Standard (PS) and Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) to avoid selling of fake or uncertified construction materials to their customers.

DTI Region 2 Director Leah Ocampo said there is a need to know the technical information among retailers of construction materials to ensure that the products they are selling are genuine and carry the PS and ICC marks.

Ocampo said the consumers should know and understand their rights in purchasing construction materials.

“This 1st Cagayan Valley Multi-Industry Summit on Product Standards aims to advocate consumer safety and responsible use of materials in the construction industry and to strengthen awareness campaign for the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) fairly and responsibly,” Ocampo said

She expressed her thanks to the construction industry player experts for their collaboration to the DTI in advocating the use of certified construction materials for the consumers.
