Micro and small coops in Abra learn to protect their businesses in times of disasters

BANGUED, Abra (PIA) – About 40 micro and small cooperatives and organizations in Abra were empowered to protect their businesses in times of disaster with the recently held Business Continuity Planning Workshop at the Abra Sports Complex gymnasium.

Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) Abra Provincial Head Julio Decaling shared that the training aims to equip micro and small cooperatives including agrarian reform beneficiary  organizations with a business continuity plan.
 
“The business continuity plan can be used by our cooperatives just in case there are disasters, or any hazards that may affect the operation of their properties or businesses,” he explained.
 
Decaleng also said that cooperatives as business entities need plans that will help them mitigate the impacts of disasters or hazards.
 
“They need a plan tapno ma-mitigate da ti impact ti disasters iti negosyo. It may be to save lives wenno to mitigate any losses that may be incurred iti dagitoy disasters wenno risks,” he said.

The one-day training included topics on business continuity planning and strategic planning. This was led by the provincial government, the Department of Agrarian Reform, and the CDA as part of the week-long Abrenian Kawayan Festival.
 
The CDA provincial head emphasized the importance of these kinds of trainings to the cooperatives that are part and parcel of the economy of the province.
 
To date, there are 68 operating cooperatives in Abra that help create jobs and livelihood for communities in the province.(JJPM-PIA Abra)
