Peñarrubia supports local farmers in Pinaing festival trade fair

PEÑARRUBIA, Abra (PIA) – Farmers from the different barangays of Peñarrubia in Abra get a boost during the Pinaing Festival Trade Fair that showcased various agricultural crops, and products of the farmers’ associations in the municipality.

Mayor Jane Cecilia  said the trade fair aims to help farmers promote, and sell their products, and provide the community fresh fruits and vegetables at affordable prices.


“We put this trade fair up para tulungan yung mga farmers natin. Basically, mga gulay yung mga products ng Peñarrubia. We did this trade fair first time as part ng Pinaing Festival natin para matulungan naman natin ang mga farmers natin,” she said.


Aside from affordable vegetables, tilapia, which is one of the products of Peñarrubia, was sold at P150 per kilo as compared to the P170 market price.

The five-day trade fair that highlighted the of 13 farmers association, also featured commodities from the Abra Diocesan Teachers and Employees Multi-Purpose Cooperative.


“We also have the embroidery ng Namarabar na kilala na ngayon. I think they also sell it at a more affordable price with a little discount also,” Cecilia shared.


She said that the products of the different organizations were almost sold out during the opening of the trade fair.(JJPM-PIA Abra)
