RAGE 1 launches Women's Month celebration in La Union

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – The Region 1 Advocates for Gender Equality (RAGE 1) kicked off National Women's Month with a day packed with activities on Friday.

This year's theme, "Lipunang Patas sa Bagong Pilipinas: Kakayahan ng Kababaihan, Patunayan!", aims to recognize the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.

A Gender and Development (GAD) Walk commenced at the city plaza, culminating at the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University-Mid La Union Campus (DMMMSU-MLUC) covered court, where the official program began.

Representatives from over 40 government agencies participated in the walk, showcasing their services to women through informational booths.

A thanksgiving mass and a zumba session energized participants before the program.

"Don't just be advocates, be activists for gender empowerment, and ignite the passion to serve women," Ortega stressed.

She further emphasized the need for collaboration between men and women to achieve true empowerment.

RAGE 1's celebration extends beyond the kick-off event.

Additional activities include: tree-planting in Agoo town (March 13), community outreach program in Santol town (March 15), closing program at DMMMSU-Open University System (March 21), and blood donation drive at DMMMSU-MLUC (March 22).
