Subway project to slow down traffic in some parts of NCR this weekend

QUEZON CITY, (PIA) -- Heads up! The Department of Transportation (DOTr) advises motorists of traffic slowdown on some roads of Metro Manila this weekend.

According to DOTr, the expected traffic slowdown which will begin from 9:00 pm to 4:00 am on Friday evening, March 15 to Sunday morning, March 17is due to the transportation of the Metro Manila Subway Project’s (MMSP) Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) at Camp Aguinaldo Station.

The TBM will be used in the construction of the tunnels that shall connect MMSP’s Camp Aguinaldo Station and Ortigas Station.

The following roads will be affected during the said dates:

  • Port/ R-10 (between 9 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.)
  • C3 Road (between 9:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.)
  • 5th Avenue (between 10:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.)
  • G. Araneta Avenue (between 12:00 a.m. to 1:30 a.m.)
  • E. Rodriguez Sr. Avenue (between 1:30 a.m. to 2:00 a.m.)
  • Gilmore Avenue (between 2:00 a.m. to 3:00 a.m.)
  • Col. Bonny Serrano Avenue (between 3:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m.)

Motorists are advised to take alternate routes.

The rail line project aims to cut travel time between Quezon City and Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) from the present one hour and 10 minutes to just 35 minutes.

Once operational, the underground railway system can service up to 370,000 passengers. (DOTr/PIA-NCR)
