TESDA distributes toolkits to women in Romblon

ODIONGAN, Romblon (PIA) -- Nearly 40 women in the province of Romblon received toolkits from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) on March 14.

The distribution of toolkits by TESDA Romblon coincided with the celebration of Women's Month in Odiongan town, where nearly 300 women from 25 barangays gathered at Odiongan Public Plaza.

According to the TESDA Provincial Director, Engr. Lynette Gatarin, the recipients of the toolkits, consisting of an electric oven and mixer, completed the Bread and Pastry Production NC II course last year under the agency's Special Training for Employment Program in collaboration with the Romblon Provincial Training Center.

Gatarin stated that their agency expects the women beneficiaries to utilize the newly provided equipment to grow or start their businesses in their respective areas, proving their capabilities, in line with the theme of this year's National Women's Month celebration, "Lipunang Patas sa Bagong Pilipinas: Kakayahan ng Kababaihan, Patutunayan!"

During the same activity, Dr. Elemelyn Montoya, Vice President for Academic Affairs of Romblon State University, shared that the goal of the Odiongan Women Council is to ensure equal opportunities for women in the town.

"Let's show the world this Women's Month that women are not limited in what they can do. The Women's Month reminds us all that we should support our fight for Gender Equality," she said.

The 40 graduates of the TESDA course are among the 1,817 individuals assisted by the agency to complete training in various courses in Romblon last year. (PJF/PIA Mimaropa - Romblon)
