City of Ilagan’s newly-rehabilitated tourist spot opens to public

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) - Officials of the city government of Ilagan led recently the reopening of newly-rehabilitated Abuan River Adventure and Eco Park, a tourist spot located at Barangay Cabisera 10, this city.

City Mayor Josemarie L. Diaz said the new tourist destination was rehabilitated for almost a month for the construction of additional facilities for water adventure rides like kayaks, boats, All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs). 

Diaz said the need to develop the potentials of Abuan river into additional tourist destination is necessary to attract more tourists to visit the place as one of the tourism circuits of the city.

“It is with pleasure that we gathered here today to celebrate the combination of our labor and dedication in elevating this natural  marvel into a world class tourism destination,” Diaz said.

Diaz expressed his sincerest thanks to the officialdom of the city government, barangay officials, employees and all other sectors who worked and cooperated in developing athe park.

“Ang biyaya ng kalikasan na katulad nito ay dapat lamang na protektahan hindi lamang sa pakinabang ng kasalukuyang henerasyon kundi para sa kapakanan ng susunod pang saling-lahi," Diaz said.

(This natural resources should be protected and not for the benefit of the present generation but also for the next generations)

He said the rehabilitation and development of Abuan River Adventure and Eco Park is part of the vision of the City Government of Ilagan to be a livable city by 2030.

Diaz said that some Agta living near the tourist spot will be hired as life guards and tourist guides while others will be maintaining the cleanliness around the park.

Meanwhile, Diaz also accepted a bus unit donated by Victory Liner transportation company during the opening of the Adventure and Eco Park whom he said will be used for tourist-related trips of employees of the city government. (MGE/PIA Isabela)
