La Trinidad LGU leads Women’s Month celebration

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet(PIA) -- The local government of La Trinidad spearheaded the Women’s Month celebration in partnership with the women’s groups  in the municipality.
 
More than a hundred women gathered for the parade, program and a seminar on mental health awareness at the municipal gymnasium recently for the Women's Month activities.
 

Mayor Romeo Salda and the female department headsof the La Trinidad LGU  led the parade  which was participated by employees, the Federation of La Trinidad Women’s Organizations and representatives of the different national line agencies, law enforcement agencies, barangays and civil society organizations.
 
Salda  commended the women’s groups and associations for their continuing efforts to empower women and girls, and  help in the  development of the community, and  in nation building.  
 

The mayor also assured that the local government continues to support the women and their their organizations in their various endeavors and activities in the municipality.

Benguet State University Gender and Development Director Estrellita Oway Malano-Daclan points out the need to further strenghten and promote gender equality.

Benguet State University Gender and Development Director Estrellita Oway Malano-Daclan shared insights on gender and development in relation to the national  Women’s Month  recurring theme, "WE for gender equity and inclusive society."


She said that roles of women in society have been elevated even in the spheres of  politics, sports, business and other aspects. However, there is still  the need to raise the bar  to achieve equality among men and women.
 
Daclan also encouraged the women especially the mothers in La Trinidad to help the municipal and barangay local government units and other agencies and offices in the development of the society. She stressed that women should beef up their roles in society through  small things that will create a big impact in their communities,  and  in the municipality.
 
She added that this year's  celebration carries the sub-theme, "Lipunang Patas sa Bagong Pilipinas:Kakayahan ng Kababaihan Patutunayan!"  which highlights the need to showcase and harness the full potentials of women and girls in actively engaging in, and reaping the benefits of national growth and development.
 
Meanwhile, clinical psychologist Dr. Geraldine Llanes-Leaño  held a a mental health seminar entitled “Harnessing Women’s Strength: Nurturing Healthy Relationship Dynamics” for the women to improve their overall  health and wellness.
