DOST trains Isabela women in herbal soap-making

ALICIA, Isabela (PIA) - - As part of its technology transfer and livelihood development programs, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Isabela trained unemployed women in soap making in Alicia, Isabela.

DOST Provincial Director Lucio Calimag said 27 women participated in the livelihood skills training.

“Such training programs for women aim to uplift and empower women in rural areas, contributing to sustainable development and inclusive growth,” Calimag said.

The training was conducted in partnership with RLGV Fruit Wine Industry, a beneficiary of the DOST’s Small Enterprises Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP) to inspire the participants to establish their livelihood.

Calimag also said the participants were taught how to identify and harvest indigenous herbs like citronella, lemongrass, aloe vera, lavender, sampaguita, acapulco, and kamias which can be processed into herbal soap.
