TESDA Camiguin provides 49 toolkits in Guinsiliban

GUINSILIBAN, Camiguin (PIA) -- To enhance the employability of graduates from the Camiguin School of Arts and Trades (CSAT), the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Camiguin distributed 49 toolkits for Tile Setting NC II and Bread and Pastry Production NC II on March 13 at Barangay Cantaan, Guinsiliban.

The scholars also received free training, assessment, and ongoing support, amplifying their chances of success in their chosen fields.

"Through ani nga training, mahimo gyapon mong professional in your own way, nana mo'y skill, nana mo'y ma-develop nga skill nga inyong makuhaan og pangitaan, income kay ang Camiguin baya more on tourism, so gusto niya (Rep. Jurdin Jesus Romualdo) nga walay pobre dinhi sa Camiguin," TESDA Camiguin Acting Provincial Director Lonie Gonzaga said.

[This training aims to empower individuals to pursue professionalism and acquire skills that enable sustainable income generation. Given Camiguin's emphasis on tourism, Rep. Jurdin Jesus Romualdo advocates for poverty alleviation within the province by providing opportunities for skill development.]

Gonzaga added that the beneficiaries of this initiative were scholars enrolled in the 2023 Special Training for Employment Program (STEP Scholarship), made possible through the congressional allocation of Romualdo.

Provincial Board Member Shella Babanto also graced the said event and encouraged the beneficiaries to make use of the tools provided to them.

"During sa inyong training ang intention is for us gain knowledge and skill nga mas ma-develop pa ang atoang mga talents sa cooking, baking, pastry, ug mas makabalo ta mag-tiles," Babanto said.

[During your training, the intention is for us to gain knowledge and skills so that we can further develop our talents in cooking, baking, and pastry and to know more about mounting tiles.]

Gonzaga also reminded the beneficiaries to take care of the tools given to them, as the agency will regularly monitor if the tools are still in the beneficiaries' possession.

Sharing her appreciation for the tools they received, Criza Pagute, one of the beneficiaries, said, "Magamit na jud namo ang among mga nakat-onan pinaagi niining mga toolkits nga kanang gwapa. After all the waiting, at least maka-mekus-mekus na jud mi."

[We can apply what we have learned through these beautiful toolkits. After all the waiting, we can finally execute what we have learned.]

TESDA Camiguin's commitment to equipping individuals with the necessary tools and skills for gainful employment reflects a broader effort toward fostering economic growth and prosperity in the province. Through collaborative endeavors and targeted support, initiatives like these continue to shape a brighter future for the Camiguin workforce, Gonzaga said. (RTP/PIA-10/Camiguin)
