CAAP records four airport access falsifications in Puerto Princesa

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan (PIA) -- The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) Puerto Princesa recorded four reports of falsification of identification cards and airport access passes during the first quarter of 2024.

Civil Aviation Area Manager Mohammad Naga Rascal said that violators should face the legal consequences of their actions.

“Ang sabi ko sa kanila ay sagutin nila sa piskalya. Hindi naman ginawa ang CAAP na hindi kayo bibigyan (ng pass), ang sinasabi ng CAAP is to comply with what is mandated or security measures ng CAAP,” he said.

[I told them that they should answer to the fiscal. The CAAP was not made that you will not be given (a pass), what the CAAP is saying is to comply with what is mandated or security measures of the CAAP.]

The violators recorded were some of the tourist transport drivers who did not comply with the requirements needed for the airport access pass.

Business operators inside the premises like travel agencies and tourist van drivers should have clearance from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), a drug test, and an endorsement letter from the transport agency.

Those who have committed falsification of identification cards were declared banned on the premises of Puerto Princesa International Airport.

One of the banned individuals who has been doing illegal marketing inside the airport grounds was detained on March 15 due to alarm and scandal. However, he immediately bailed out, according to the management.

“Hindi pa ako dumarating dito ay nakasanayan na ‘yan nila. Ewan ko na bakit 'yong mga papel ay hindi nila inaasikaso,” he said.

[I haven't been here yet, they are used to that. I don't know why they don't take care of the papers.]

Rascal assured that CAAP is implementing heightened measures to eradicate such activities inside the airport.

The current identification card of CAAP personnel contains a QR code, which immediately shows the identity of the holder. This feature can help the management easily prevent violators from entering the airport premises. (RG/PIA Mimaropa - Palawan)
