Authorities destroy P5.05 million worth of marijuana in Kalinga

CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga-- Kalinga police operatives destroyed a combined total of 25, 250 fully grown marijuana plants valued at P5.05 million in three separate eradication operations mounted with the help of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Kalinga.


The Kalinga Police Provincial Office (KPPO) reported the bust included the 12,000 marijuana plants discovered in a plantation in Barangay Buscalan and the 5,250 marijuana plants found in Barangay Loccong, both in the municipality of Tinglayan.


The total figure also includes the 8,000 pieces of marijuana plants burned in a plantation found in Sitio Anunang, Liwan West, Rizal.


Operatives have not made arrests but the KPPO gave assurance that they continue to go after cultivators behind the illegal plantations.


“The KPPO personnel is committed to continue the marijuana eradication operation in the province to end the cultivation and selling of this illegal plant. Likewise, appropriate court charges await against identified cultivators,” KPPO chief PCOL Freddie M. Lazona said in a statement.(IOS- PIA Kalinga)
