SEC trains 18 farmers’ orgs in Bataan

BALANGA CITY (PIA) -- The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) trained about 18 Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organizations (ARBOs) in Bataan on the online submission of their annual reports.

SEC Tarlac Extension Office Director Richard Laus said this initiative is in collaboration with the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR).

“Through this collaborative effort with our campaign partner, DAR Bataan Provincial Office, we aim to support the organizational development of their agricultural associations while fostering a culture of good corporate governance,” he underscored.

Laus also stressed the importance of equipping farmers' associations with digital tools and online reporting skills to ensure their continued compliance with corporate laws and safeguard their SEC registration from potential suspension or revocation due to non-compliance.

DAR Bataan Program Beneficiaries Development Division OIC-Chief Norma Evangelista expressed support for the joint initiative with the SEC in providing training for farmers on the online filing of their annual reports.

She noted that the digital platform set by the SEC will streamline the reporting processes of ARBOs, enabling more effective communication with stakeholders and enhancing the credibility and sustainability of their organizations.

Topics presented include navigating the SEC’s online reporting platform through the Electronic Filing and Submission Tool or EFAST portal, preparing financial statements, documenting operational activities in the General Information Sheet, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements of the Commission.

By fully complying with the SEC’s annual reportorial requirements, farmers' organizations gain enhanced visibility into their financial and organizational performance, enabling informed decision-making and strategic planning.

Additionally, the digitalization of corporate reporting by the SEC facilitates real-time data analysis, providing more timely insights and interventions to tackle emerging challenges in the corporate sector. (CLJD/RPQ-PIA 3)
