DSWD-CAR to release PAMANA livelihood aid to 5 barangays in Tabuk

CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga (PIA) -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Cordillera is set to release financial assistance to five more barangays in the city under the Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan-Sustainable Livelihood Project (PAMANA-SLP).


Tabuk City Social Welfare Development Office-SLP focal person Aida Bermillo said barangays Calaccad, Calanan, Lacnog East, Lacnog West, and Magnao will soon receive their first tranche of assistance of P300,000 each for their identified livelihood  projects.


This brings to 17 the number of beneficiary-barangays of the program in Tabuk since last year.   


Barangays Naneng and Agbannawag have received their full P900,000 cash grant under the program. 


Barangays Amlao, Bulo, Dupag, Guilayon, Ipil, Lucog, Magsaysay, Nambucayan, New Tanglag, and San Juan got their initial P300,000 grant in 2023.  


The PAMANA-SLP grants P900,000 livelihood start-up capital to beneficiary-associations in conflict-affected areas identified by the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU) to provide opportunities to increase their productivity in order to improve their socioeconomic well-being.

The funding assistance is released in three tranches at P300,000 per release. The second and third tranches are released based on the current evaluation of the funded livelihood project.   


The DSWD clarified that only communal microenterprise projects are covered under the program. In Tabuk, among the livelihood projects are the sari-sari store, bakery, rice retail, fuel products store, poultry products, livestock and tilapia production.



Meanwhile, Micah Joy Mahener of DSWD-Cordillera regional office urged beneficiaries to manage very well their chosen livelihood projects to avail of the remaining cash aid tranches. 


The DSWD has recognized the Tabuk CSWDO for its contribution in social preparation, resource mobilization, and monitoring of livelihood projects under the program. (LL-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
