BIR reminds taxpayers to file, pay taxes on time

ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) – The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Revenue District Office No. 72 is reminding the taxpayers in the province of the April 15, 2024 deadline for the 2023 Annual Income Tax Return.

“We are encouraging the taxpayers to file and pay the correct tax on time to prevent incurring penalties. We are also urging them to remit their taxes earlier than the stated deadline to refrain from waiting in long queues in banks, Revenue Collection Officers (RCOs) in the different municipalities or other payment centers,” said RDO No. 72 head Nelia B. Demalata.

The district office will also set up three Tax Tulungan Centers at the Citymall Roxas Avenue, Ground floors of SM City Roxas, and Robinson’s Place.

However, these will be available starting March 23 to April 15, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. except Sunday and Holy Week.

“The taxpaying public can visit these locations for inquiries, queries, and assistance in filing their tax returns. The Revenue Officers manning these centers are well-equipped, ready to help, and always happy to serve you,” Demalata said.

The district office, along McKinley Street in the city, will also open on Saturday, March 23, April 6, and 13, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Through a Memorandum of Agreement, the BIR-authorized agent banks will also open on two Saturdays or on April 6 and 13, to accept tax returns or payments of the taxpayers.

These are Bank of the Philippine Islands (Arnaldo Blvd and Roxas Avenue Branch), Chinabank, Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP), Landbank of the Philippines, Philippine National Bank (Roxas Avenue and Magallanes Branches), Philtrust and Metrobank (Roxas Avenue and Arnaldo Blvd Branches).

”Business owners, bookkeepers, and accountants are given different venues, multiple options, and extended office and banking hours to cater to their needs and requests during this filing season. Thus, we advise that they should seize these opportunities to avoid tax consequences due to failure to file and pay the tax returns on the time required by law,” Demalata added.

She also appealed to the taxpayers to continue filing and paying their accurate tax dues to support the programs and activities of the Bureau to help attain this year’s goal.

The taxpayers may contact the BIR RDO No. 72 through these numbers (036) 6216552 and 6216554 or send a message through a Facebook page, birrdo072roxascity, for tax queries and concerns. (AGP/AAL/PIA Capiz/BIR RDO)
