City of Ilagan is now insurgency-free

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) - The Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC) officially declared the city of Ilagan as insurgency-free. 

In the Sanggunian Panglungsod Resolution No. 033, the city officials stated that the programs and services rendered by various government agencies under Executive Order NO. 70 have greatly contributed to the declaration of the city as insurgency-free. 

City Mayor Josemarie L. Diaz was elated on the declaration saying he dedicates the success to the to the people of Ilagan.

"This insurgency-free status of our city is a manifestation of the unified efforts of city officials, the military, the police, barangay officials, and you fellow Ilagueños,” Diaz said.

He said the support of all in implementing Executive Order No. 70 has led to the status of the city as insurgency-free and the former rebels have embraced the programs and sincerity of the government.

"Hindi dito magwawakas ang pagbibigay ng serbisiyo sa ating mga kababayan. Huwag nating hayaang magkaroon ng dahilan para manumbalik ang mga NPA. We are gearing for a liveable city. A peaceful city is a progressive place to live in,” Diaz said. 

Meanwhile, 5th Infantry Division, Philippine Army Assistant Commander B/Gen Santiago I. Enginco, lauded the officialdom of the City of Ilagan for the sincerity shown in ending insurgency in the city.

"Kami ang tunay na hukbong bayan (Philippine Army). Kami ang nakikipaglaban sa mga armado at tumulong sa pagpapatupad ng mga programa ng lokal na pamahalaan, ang susi sa katagumpayang ito. I congratulate you for this momentous event," Enginco said.

He called on all residents in the city to continue to be vigilant and never allow the CPP-NPA-NDF to return in the city and help in the maintenance of peace and security in all corners of the City of Ilagan. (MGE/PIA Isabela)
