Coffee, cacao council reorganized in Quirino

CABARROGUIS, Quirino (PIA) - - The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the provincial government of Quirino reorganized the Provincial Coffee and Cacao Industry Council in a meeting at the Q-Life Conference Room, Capitol Hills, this province, recently.

The officers under the government sector include; Chairperson-Governor Dakila Carlo E. Cua; Co-Chairperson- Vice Governor Julius Caesar Vaquilar; and Secretariat- Department of Trade and Industry –Quirino, Provincial Agriculture Office and Q-Life Upland Ecosystem Program.

For the private sector, Helmar Cielo was elected president and Dominador Ramos as vice president.           

The Advisory Board is composed of Department of Agriculture-RF02-Quirino Experiment Station, Department of Science and Technology, Department of Labor and Employment, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Quirino State University and Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Quirino.

Furthermore, Magsaysay United Upland Farmers Developers Association of Diffun, Lupog Farm/Teresita’s Food Products of Cabarroguis and Aglipay Cacao Farmers Association were elected as representatives of the Growers and Farmers sectors.

The elected representatives of Processor and Trader sector were Mataga-ay Coffee Growers Producers Cooperative of Maddela and Magsaysay United Upland Farmers Developers Association of Diffun.

DTI Provincial Director Mary Ann Corpuz Dy said the council plays a pivotal role in coordinating efforts to promote growth and sustainability of local cacao and coffee industries, demonstrating the stakeholders’ commitment to collective progress.

“It also helps improve the agri-supply chain of coffee and cacao commodities, and connects the key industry players with the various agri-industry cluster for market and infrastructure support,” Dy Said.

An action planning session was likewise undertaken which provided a platform for discussions addressing common challenges, and formulating collaborative solutions to address the needs and challenges faced by coffee and cacao stakeholders. (TCB/PIA-2, QUIRINO)
