Mayor Sandoval leads Malabon-wide simultaneous shake drill

MANILA, (PIA) -- Malabon City officials and residents participated in a simultaneous earthquake drill on Monday, March 25, led by Mayor Jeannie Sandoval and the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO).

The drill aimed to remind about 2,000 local government employees and residents of earthquake safety measures.

Participants practiced the "duck, cover, and hold" technique before evacuating to an open space outside the City Hall.

A video presentation preceded the drill, outlining safety precautions residents can take before, during, and after an earthquake. These measures include taking cover under sturdy furniture indoors, dropping to the ground and covering the head with hands outdoors, and seeking open spaces away from large buildings.

City Administrator Dr. Alexander Rosete, members of the City Council, Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Jail and Penology, Philippine Army, Malabon City Police Station, and on-the-job trainees joined the activity.

The simultaneous earthquake drill ensures our employees are prepared and know how to respond during a disaster,” Dr. Rosete said.

Under Mayor Jeannie’s leadership, the city government remains committed to providing information and services to keep Malabon safe,” he added. (PIA-NCR)
