PIA, Davao Metro Shuttle tie up to amplify gov’t info drive through buses

DAVAO CITY (PIA) -- To inform more people about government programs and advocacy, the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Davao Region Partnered with the Davao Metro Shuttle Corporation (DMSC) for a massive information drive through buses.

During the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on March 22 at NCCC Victoria Mall Davao, Regional Head Jemin Guillermo of PIA XI emphasized that the project, dubbed “Budyong sa Bus,” hopes to inform, inspire, and empower more Filipinos through the dissemination of government programs and advocacy through the buses of DMSC.

“We want the public to know better about the services, the program, and even the tourist destination here in Davao,” Guillermo said.

She said that the information materials in audio and video will come from various government agencies and local government units.

“This will be the first time in the entire PIA, in the entire nation, na ginamit namin ang bus para maging platform of disseminating government information,” she said.

On the part of the bus company, DMSC chief executive officer Emerald Uy expressed excitement for the project, as they also planned to improve their bus services and even develop videos that would feature their routes and safety tips for commuters.

“I think very important talaga na we will be able to give the proper information to everyone, especially to our commuters,” Uy said.

She also vowed to fully support the project of PIA XI, as this will be very beneficial to the public, especially those using buses to be aware of government programs.

To date, DMSC has around 150 buses plying the different parts of Mindanao and two buses onDavao -Manila route.

“We just launched last week the Davao–Baganga route via Compostela, and we will be opening more routes in the coming months,” she said. (MLU/PIA Davao de Oro/PIA photos)
