Remote barangay in Apayao gets new school building

LUNA, Apayao (PIA) -- The provincial government of Apayao recently turned over a new school building to a far-flung barangay in the municipality of Flora.


Governor Elias Bulut Jr. with Flora officials led by Mayor Rodolfo Juan and Vice Mayor Jeofrey Blas, and Department of Education officials headed by Apayao Schools Division Superintendent Irene Angway led the inauguration and turn over ceremony of the two-room school building for the Upper Atok Elementary School.


The fully furnished building named as the ECB building for the Upper Atok Elem. School, highlights the importance of education and the investment made in providing a conducive learning environment for the learners .

Bulut in his message, said that he will continue to make headway in improving school buildings in the province to provide not only quality education to learners but to ensure that they receive a secure and more comfortable place to learners.


He also assured the support from the provincial government to the former stronghold of the New People’s Army, particularly to  develop their community and connect the roads from Barangay Upper Atok in Flora to Barangay Aurora in Pudtol.

Barangay Upper Atok   was identified as an area for development under the Task Force  to End Local Communist Armed Conflict  of the government.


Angway expressed gratitude to the provincial government for the continuing support  it is  providing to the DepEd and the learners of Barangay Upper Atok and its nearby areas.


She said  the school building is  not only a physical structure, but a symbol to educate the yApayaos and the dedication to improve educational opportunities despite the distance. (JDP/RMC- PIA CAR / Apayao PIO)
