CAAP Puerto Princesa assures security preparedness for Holy Week

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan (PIA) -- The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) in Puerto Princesa assured preparation in its security measures implemented at the airport premises during the observance of Holy Week.

Civil Aviation Area Manager Mohammad Naga Rascal said the main priority of CAAP is to prevent crime incidents at Puerto Princesa International Airport (PPIA).

“We can assure you, 100 percent (preparation),” Rascal said.

PMaj Manuel Refuerzo, CAAP Acting Assistant Chief, said that although no crime reports have been received, management is still implementing heightened security measures against bomb jokes and falsification of airport access cards and personnel identification cards.

CAAP Puerto Princesa has recorded four incidents of falsification of identification cards and airport access passes during the first quarter of 2024.

“Sa ngayon ay peaceful naman sa Palawan, insurgency-free tayo pero hindi pa rin maiwasan na maging vigilante pa rin tayo. Lahat ng suspicious na personnel ay dapat i-report sa kapulisan natin para maaksyunan agad,” he said.

There are 36 police officers regularly deployed on the premises of the airport, and additional force from city tourist police will help in ensuring safety during Holy Week, Refuerzo added. (RG/PIA Mimaropa - Palawan)
