DAR, NIA complete P4.1M irrigation system for Bayombong farmers

Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) -- The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) and the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) have completed the construction of an irrigation system project designed to boost agricultural production of farmers in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya.

Engineer Pedro Barasi, DAR Provincial Agrarian Reform Program officer, said they have already awarded the P4.1 million worth irrigation system to the farmers of Barangay Bansing, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya, recently.

He said the Communal Irrigation System project, jointly implemented by DAR and NIA was funded through the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program, with DAR as the lead implementing agency.

“Construction of the Amoccocan-Nagtipunan CIS began on June 1, 2023, and was completed on December 25, 2023,” Barasi said.

He said the project will provide irrigation to a total of 30 hectares of agricultural land in the area and is expected to benefit over 35 Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries who are members of Amococan Nagtipunan Farmer Irrigators Association, Inc.

Barasi said the  new irrigation system is expected to improve access to water for agricultural lands in the barangay, contributing to increased crop production and income for the farmers.

The awarding program was attended by Board Members Edgardo Balgos and Patricio Dumlao,Jr., Mayor Antonio Sergio Bagasao, Engr. Felipa Sumer, NIA Division Manager and staff, barangay officials and DAR Region 02 officials headed by ARPO II Andres Cafugauan. (OTB/BME/PIA NVizcaya)
