DIADI, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) — The Department of Public Works and Highways has completed the P12 million farm-to-market road in this town, linking upland farmers and their products faster to the nearest markets.

DPWH 1st District Engineer Marifel Andes the completion of the Barangay Villa Florentino to Barangay Villa Aurora farm-to-market road project will spur economic progress in the town.

She said the Department of Agriculture-funded project for fiscal year 2023, involved the construction of a 0.6422-kilometer-long road with a width of 6.10 meters and a thickness of 200 millimeters of Portland Cement Concrete Pavement (PCCP).

It also includes the installation of shoulder lanes, reinforced concrete pipe culverts, catch basins, riprap aprons, and slope protection structures, along with curbs, gutters, and road safety markers.

Andes said the project was conceived to address the community's need for improved infrastructure, enhancing connectivity, and accessibility, especially in the upland barangays.

“The road projects will help the farmers in the faster transport of their farm produce to the commercial areas of the municipality and   contribute to the strengthening of trade and industry and economic activities,” she said.

Town officials also hailed the project as it will benefit villagers, making it easier to access essential services, and ensuring safer travel for both drivers and pedestrians. (BME/PIA NVizcaya)
