BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) — The Provincial Local Government Unit here in partnership with various agencies and organizations have launched a Blood Donation Program to sustain the need for blood supply for needy patients in the province.

The program dubbed “Libre a Dara para iti Umili” (Free Blood for the Public) was launched with the conduct of two blood letting activities at the provincial capitol here and Nueva Vizcaya State University Gymnasium in Bambang town.

The blood letting activities were organized by the  Ready Reserve Infantry Battalion of Nueva Vizcaya in partnership with the Nueva Vizcaya Provincial Hospital, Region II Trauma and Medical Center and Philippine Red Cross Nueva Vizcaya chapter and other PLGU-managed healthcare facilities.

Governor Jose Gambito said the blood letting activities also marked the 127th founding anniversary of the Philippine Army which also aims to promote blood donation to save lives.

The blood letting activities resulted to the collection of 540 bags of blood, the second highest number of blood donation nationwide.

“We owe this feat to our fellow Novo Vizcayanos who volunteered to share their blood for others. Let us continue this  program to ensure the supply of available blood for the needy,” Gambito said. (BME/PIA NVizcaya)
