DILG-1 marks BIDA first anniversary with fun run

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union (PIA) — The Department of the Interior and Local Government Region 1 (DILG-RO1) led the “Buhay Ingatan, Droga’y Ayawan” (BIDA) first anniversary through a fun run which was attended by members of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD) Advocacy Cluster on March 23, here.

The fun run was participated in by more than 3,500 runners and advocates.

Anchored on the theme “Lakad Kontra Droga, BIDA Tayong Lahat”, the activity aims to raise awareness and encourage the community’s participation in the fight against illegal drugs.

In his message, DILG-1 Regional Director Jonathan Paul Leusen Jr emphasized the role of the local community in the campaign.

He also urged the youth, who turned to drugs to escape from the pressures of their personal social and academic lives, to take the fun run as a reminder that there are healthier ways to handle stress and anxiety.

“As we complete this run, let us remember that the BIDA program is not just about saying No to Drugs, it’s about saying yes to life, health and a brighter future. Let us be the change we want to see. Together, we can establish communities free from drugs,” Leusen said.
