Kibawe sports complex—a hub for nurturing discipline, igniting national pride

KIBAWE, Bukidnon (PIA) -- "Participation in sports goes beyond mere physical exercise. It cultivates discipline, fosters camaraderie, and instills a sense of responsibility and accountability," Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri said during the inaugural ceremony of the sports complex in Kibawe town.

The multi-million complex, hailed as the largest in the province's 3rd congressional district, marked its grand opening by hosting the 2024 Department of Education Division Athletic Meet. The event showed the complex's potential as a center of athletic excellence.

"As we gather here today for this division athletic meet, I want to commend you for the dedication and passion you bring to the field, court, or track,"  Zubiri said, citing the significance of personal growth through sports.

Drawing from his formative years as an athlete, Zubiri understands firsthand the impact of sports on character building. He spoke passionately about the transformative nature of sports and its ability to mold the youth into disciplined, resilient, and morally upright individuals, emphasizing teamwork, perseverance, and fair play—lessons learned in competition that translate to real-world situations.

"As an athlete in my teenage days, I feel a strong connection with our athletes. Being an athlete was the linchpin in my personal and academic development. I believe it holds the same potential for our youth today," he said.
