SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union (PIA)— To ease travelers going or passing by the Ilocos Region this Holy Week, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will put up Motorists Assistance Teams dubbed “Lakbay Alalay” along strategic highways all over the region from March 28-29. 
 
The “Lakbay Alalay” is tasked to assist motorists 24 hours on the aforementioned dates, with DPWH uniformed field and crew personnel and with maintenance equipment on standby.
 
This initiative is in coordination with the Land Transportation Office, Philippine National Police, and local government units.
 
A total of 36 motorist assistance team stations will be put up across the region with seven in Ilocos Norte, six in Ilocos Sur,  11 in La Union, and 10 in Pangasinan.
 
The DPWH Ilocos Norte First District Engineering Office (DEO) team will be deployed in Laoag City; Burgos, Ilocos Norte; and at Barangays Tarrag and Pancian in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte.
 
The DPWH Ilocos Norte Second DEO will be at Barangay San Pablo in San Nicolas, and at the towns of Badoc and Dingras, Ilocos Norte along Ilocos Norte Apayao Road.
 
The DPWH Ilocos Sur First DEO team can be approached along Napo, Magsingal, Ilocos Sur;  Barangay V, Poblacion; and Ilocos Sur First DEO Bantay, Ilocos Sur.
 
While the team of the DPWH Ilocos Sur Second DEO is ready to help travelers at their designated posts along the Manila North Road (MNR) at Bitalag, Tagudin, Ilocos Sur along Tagudin-Cervantes Road; Barangay Calaoa-an, Candon City, Ilocos Sur; and at Quinarayan, Narvacan, Ilocos Sur.
 
Meanwhile, the DPWH La Union First DEO team will be positioned at the MNR along Camilo Osias, Balaoan, La Union and at Barangays Cacapian, and Ili Sur in San Juan.
 
La Union First DEO is located at Barangays Lingsat, and Pagdalagan Norte in San Fernando City, La Union.
 
In La Union Second DEO, they will be assigned at the MNR along Pottot and Central West in Bauang; Sta. Rita West in Aringay; San Agustin Sur in Agoo town; Subusub in Rosario; and at Poblacion East in Pugo along Rosario-Pugo Road.
 
The DPWH Pangasinan First DEO team will assist the motorists along Pangasinan-Zambales Road while the team in DPWH Pangasinan Second DEO will aid the motorists at Guibel, San Jacinto, Pangasinan along Mangaldan-Manaoag- Binalonan Road, and at Manat, Binmaley, Pangasinan along Pangasinan-Zambales Road.
 
Likewise, the DPWH Pangasinan Third DEO team will be positioned along MNR Palac-palac, Pozorrubio, Pangasinan; Linmansangan in Binalonan, Pangasinan along Mangaldan-Manaoag-Binalonan Road; Anonas in Urdaneta City, Pangasinan; and at Carmen Rosales, Pangasinan along MNR.
 
Lastly, the DPWH Fourth DEO will be deployed at Maningding, Sta. Barbara, Urdaneta Junction-Dagupan Road; Tuliao, Sta. Barbara, Urdaneta Junction-Dagupan Road; and at Calasiao-Urdaneta Junction-Dagupan Road.
 
DPWH-Region 1 Regional Director Ronnel Tan enjoined his personnel to help ensure a safe and hassle-free experience for all travelers.
 
“Siguraduhin na maayos, malinis at hindi nakakaabala at huwag maging dahilan ng traffic ang ating mga daan itong Holy Week,” Director Tan said.
