PASIL, Kalinga(PIA)--The Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCAC) chaired by Gov. James S. Edduba  assured  officials and residents of Barangay Bagtayan in Pasil  that  government will help with their most pressing development needs.

Bagtayan is one of the hardest-to-reach areas in Pasil, and is one of the identified  ELCAC barangays in Kalinga.

The PTF ELCAC  visited Bagtayan on March 19 for a community consultation on the development projects they need.

The PTF- ELCAC  visited Bagtayan on March 19 for a community consultation on the development projects they need.

The construction of the Vaaw-Galdang-Bagtayan access road/farm-to-market road is the top priority project of the community in their barangay development investment program that they presented to the PTF-ELCAC for intervention.

Due to the lack of an access road, travel to the community takes about two and a half hours on foot, making the implementation of government projects difficult and driving up the cost of living as goods and materials hauled manually, said Pasil municipal planning and development officer Victor Aglipay.

Also on their priority lis are  the construction of a suspension bridge and a motorcycle trail, improvement of the barangay hall, construction of facilities such as a daycare center and sports center, improvement of their irrigation system, and assistance to support livelihood activities like heirloom rice and vegetable production, small-scale mining, and basket-making.

The PTF-ELCAC through the ‘whole-of-nation approach’ committed to helping Bagtayan realize these priority projects

Anthony Manolo Ballug, the provincial head of the Department of the Interior and Local Government-Kalinga, said the construction of the Vaaw-Galdang-Bagtayan access road and other infrastructure projects will be endorsed to funding entities including the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity and the Office of Congressman Allen Jesse Mangaoang.

“Isu nga ada kami dituy ta kayat mi nga kitaen ti sitwasyon yu, kasarita mi dakayo, damagen mi nu anya dagiyay issues and concerns yu nga mabalin nga addressan ti gobyerno, dadakkel man ken babassit,” Ballug((JDP/IOS-Kalinga)
