“We are the one using and benefitting from the environment so dapat tayo rin lahat ang tulong-tulong sa paglilinis, pagma-maintain, at pagpro-protect ng ating environment. I hope ma-encourage kayo to really join in this CARayan,” Borromeo expressed.
The Gawad Taga-Ilog Program Edition is in search of the Most Improved River System, traversing the water quality management areas in the region.
With the theme, "CARayan: Honoring the Cordillera Rivers and Watersheds," the search is dedicated to honoring the invaluable rivers and watershed systems by encouraging citizens to clean and restore the river systems, which will improve the water quality in the region.
The competition aims to recognize and incentivize the efforts of the communities, barangays, and local government units for their contribution to the improvement of their respective waterways and river systems.
“With our continuing collaborative efforts on the protection and preservation of our waters, we can be assured including the future generations will enjoy clean water," Engr. Raul Cubangay of the EMB-CAR said.
Part of the event was the unveiling of the symbol of commitment, followed by the signing of the commitment board. Partners from different municipalities and regional line agencies also pledged their support for the successful implementation of the project.
“We commit our full support to the CARayan. We want to ensure that our programs on protecting our river systems, ensuring water quality are integrated in our local plans, and especially in our local government units, line agencies, and private sectors who are the frontlines are with us," RDC-NEDA-CAR Division Chief Jose Dado Jr. pledged.
