Novo Vizcayanos get aid from DOLE

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) — The Department of Labor and Employment has distributed P1.94 million worth of livelihood assistance to 100 residents from the towns of Bayombong, Sta. Fe and Solano in Nueva Vizcaya.

Elizabeth Martinez, DOLE Nueva Vizcaya Field Office chief, said the assistance was given in the form of livelihood starter kits under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program.

She said a total of 37 parents/guardians of child laborers in the municipalities of Bayombong and Solano were awarded P20,000 worth of livelihood assistance for their sari-sari store with bigasan or rice retail store, welding services, food selling, and noodle-making.

Similar starter kits were also awarded to 30 self-employed, Persons with Disabilities, and senior citizens in Sta. Fe town amounting to P20,000 for their frozen food selling, sari-sari store, barber shop services, baking, handicraft blinds making, meat processing, rice retailing with e-loading, soft broom making, native delicacy making, and food vending.

The Upper Spanish Association of Farmers with 33 members also received P600,00 - worth of DOLE assistance for their farm inputs retailing project.

The local chief executives of the three towns hailed the DOLE for their continuing assistance to the poor and marginalized sectors.

 “All forms of assistance are being given by our national government. I hope that you will do your part to sustain your livelihood projects,” said Bayombong Mayor Tony Bagasao. (BME/PIA NVizcaya)
