Nueva Vizcaya gives P2M aid to ASF-affected hog raisers

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) -- Hog raisers who were affected by the African Swine Fever (ASF) received a total of P2 million in financial assistance from the provincial government of Nueva Vizcaya.

The financial assistance was handed over by Gov. Jose Gambito to the 3,000 members of the Hog Producers Association in the province, headed by its president, Marlo Agbanlog.

Gambito said the P2 million in financial assistance, which was sourced from the Quick Response Fund of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, is part of the sustained program of the provincial government to enable hog raisers to cushion the impact of the ASF outbreak in the province.

Agbanlog, on behalf of the association members, thanked the provincial government for the timely assistance.

“This financial assistance is a big help for us to recover from the devastating effects of the ASF,” he said.

Agbanlog said the financial assistance will be distributed among the association members whose affected swine are at the growing stage to enable the recipients to cope with the high costs of hog raising.
