SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union (PIA) – The municipality of Rosario in La Union is set to get major traffic relief with the construction of a brand new four-lane bypass road.
This project aims to address the growing congestion issues plaguing the Rosario-Kennon Road and Rosario-Pugo junctions.
"The Rosario bypass road will be a game-changer for commuters and local businesses," said Esperanza Tinaza, regional public information officer for the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Region 1.
Spanning five kilometers with each lane measuring 3.35 meters wide, the bypass road will serve as a crucial diversion route.
It will connect the Pangasinan-La Union interprovincial road (San Fabian and Manila North Road, Rosario), significantly reducing travel times between Dagupan City and Baguio City upon completion.
The project will utilize high-quality materials, including 0.280-millimeter-thick Portland concrete cement pavement (PCCP), for a durable and long-lasting road.
Construction also includes an aggregated subbase course, reinforcing steel, structural concrete, reinforced concrete pipe culverts (RCPC), headwalls, guardrails, and stone masonry.
Implemented by DPWH-Regional Office I under the leadership of Regional Director Ronnel Tan, the Rosario bypass road is expected to be completed by 2025.
This project promises to significantly improve traffic flow, reduce travel times, and boost the economic prospects of La Union. (JCR/AMB/PIA Region 1)
