SSS reminds employers of their legal obligations under RA11199

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet(PIA) -- The Social Security System in La Trinidad recently conducted  Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) operation to call on non-compliant employers to settle their contribution delinquencies.

SSS La Trinidad Branch Head Dominador Malatag, together with representatives from the legal division, served show cause orders to at least 10 establishments during the RACE operations in the different parts of La Trinidad. The employers neglected their obligation of paying their contributions  on employer and employees’ premiums.

Malatag explained that the RACE aims to reach out to the employers for them to comply with their legal obligations with the SSS.

He said that prior to the RACE operations, the SSS sends  notices to the identified employers to comply with legal obligations of settling their employer and employees’ share in contributions.

After receiving the show-cause orders, SSS gives delinquent employers 15 days to coordinate with their servicing SSS branch office located at the Ground Floor of the Jewel Igorot Building at  Km. 4, La Trinidad, Benguet, and settle their contribution delinquencies.

If they do not comply, they are the subject of RACE operations.

He stressed that they continue to conduct persuasive means of reaching out to the employers to comply before resorting to legal matters.

SSS La Trinidad officials led by Branch Head Dominador Malatag with the representatives from their legal division serve show cause orders to establishments during the RACE operations in the different parts of La Trinidad, Benguet.

“Ito ay isang paraaan para mapa alalahanan natin itong mga iba’t ibang establishments na non-compliant sa SSS. Nagbibigay tayo ng notice sa kanila para magcomply pero nakapag bigay na tayo ng naunang notices katulad ng demand for coverage sa mga hindi pa nag register at billing letters na sa mga hindi pa nagbabayad sa SSS,” Malatag said.

(This is one way to remind employers of establishments who are non-compliant with SSS. We already initially served notices to these establishments such as the demand for coverage for those who have not yet registered their employees, and the billing letters to those who are non-compliant in payment.)

“Iniiwasan kasi natin na nag kakaso tayo agad kaya mayroon itong RACE pero in the end kapag hindi pa din nag comply after this RACE, mapipilitan tayong mag file ng cases ang mga abogado natin,” he added.

(We do the RACE to avoid filing of cases against non-compliant, but if they remain to be non-compliant, cases would be filed by our lawyers.)

Employers are reminded that Republic Act 11199 or the Social Security Act of 2018 requires them to report for coverage to the SSS all their employees and/or kasambahays within 30 days from their actual employment date, and remit the corresponding monthly contributions of their workers.

SSS is set to conduct more RACE operations this year in La Trinidad and nearby towns in Benguet.(JDP/RMC- PIA CAR)
