CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) -- Sixty-nine former rebels in Oriental Mindoro have been granted more than P3.6 million in livelihood and immediate assistance under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).

This initiative is part of a concerted effort led by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), the Provincial Government of Oriental Mindoro, the Philippine Army, and the Philippine National Police.

E-CLIP is a flagship program designed to facilitate the reintegration of former rebels into mainstream society by providing them with the necessary support to start anew.

The distribution of assistance falls into two categories in which, the ones that served as Militiang Bayan received P15,000 each as immediate assistance. Meanwhile, former regular New People’s Army (NPA) members received P65,000 each as immediate and livelihood assistance.

The assistance package includes immediate livelihood support, medical services, housing, and education benefits aimed at ensuring a smooth transition for the beneficiaries and their families.

During a ceremony held at the Provincial Capitol, Oriental Mindoro, Gov. Humerlito ‘Bonz’ Dolor emphasized the government's commitment to peace and development.

The governor expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts of all agencies involved and highlighted the importance of the program in fostering a peaceful and progressive community.

"This assistance is not just financial, it represents a new beginning and hope for our brothers and sisters who have decided to return to the fold of the law," the governor remarked. "We are here to support you every step of the way." (JJGS/PIA MIMAROPA - Oriental Mindoro)
