CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) -- A total of 917 households from the towns of Gloria, Socorro, Bulalacao, and Calapan City have successfully graduated from the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

4Ps, a flagship poverty alleviation initiative of DSWD, aims to support marginalized and underprivileged families by providing conditional cash grants to improve health, nutrition, and education of children aged 0-18.

The program's holistic approach also includes livelihood programs and family development sessions to empower beneficiaries with the skills and knowledge needed to break free from the cycle of poverty.

The graduation ceremonies were attended by local government officials, representatives from the DSWD, and the families who shared their stories of struggle, perseverance, and ultimate triumph.

Calapan City Mayor Marilou Morillo congratulated the households who graduated from the program. In her message, the mayor lauds the perseverance and success that these families underwent in ensuring that they can uplift themselves from the struggles of poverty.

A total of 277 households from the municipality of Socorro graduated from the program and were welcomed by the local government, spearheaded by Mayor Nemmen O. Perez, along with the municipality’s social welfare and development officer Sharon Rose Ylagan.

The municipality of Gloria has a total of 178 households who graduated from program in which each of these families showcased their resilience and persistence in achieving their goal of independence.

Over the years, the beneficiaries underwent rigorous monitoring and evaluation to ensure compliance with the program's conditions.

The graduation ceremony signifies not only their compliance but also their improved socio-economic status, with many families now enjoying better health, higher educational attainment among their children, and stable income sources. (JJGS/PIA Oriental Mindoro)
