Mine firm brings green economy ideas to multi-sectoral partners

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) — A mine firm operating at barangay Runruno in Quezon town has showcased various innovations and ideas in a bid to encourage and teach various partners in turning solid waste into income generating endeavors.

Led by the FCF Minerals Corporation’s Information, Education and Communication section under the Community Relations Office, a forum on Circular and Green Economies was attended and participated by 105 stakeholders at the Tam-an Mt. Resort & Hotel with the theme "Harmonizing Prosperity and Preservation: Empowering SDMP Communities towards Net Zero Waste and Biodiversity-Friendly Economies,".

The participants were  members of the Technical Working Group, Program  Management Committee, local media, and MLGU partners, Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office of PLGU, Community-Based Organizations and  barangay officials from Social Development and Management Program  Communities.

“Through this forum, we hope to bring in innovative ideas on Ecological Solid Waste Management Program and encourage our partners to do their  own inititiatives in contributing to the reduction of  solid waste in their respective communities,” Forester Leopoldo Castro, Jr.,  FCF Sustainability Manager said.

He added the symposium also seeks  to inspire behavioral change, enhance community engagement, and showcase innovative solutions.

“We hope that by replicating these innovative green economy ideas among our local partners, our contribution on solid waste reduction, resource optimization, and minimizing negative environmental impacts on the local communities where FCF Mining operates will be attained,” Castro said.

Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Director Mario Ancheta hailed and commended the company’s conduct of the green economy forum as a positive step for the mining industry stakeholders, encouraging them to seize the opportunity to learn about the situation in their barangays.
