Over 2,000 promoted cops in Ilocos Region take oath

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union (PIA)— A total of 2,156 promoted police personnel from across the Ilocos Region joined the simultaneous oath-taking, donning, and pinning of ranks of Second Level Uniformed Personnel held on Monday at Camp Brigadier General Oscar M. Florendo in Parian in this city.
 
The ceremony, led by Police Brigadier General Lou Frias Evangelista, PRO-1 regional director, celebrated promotions awarded through the Regular Promotion Program for 2023 and the first quarter of 2024.
 
General Evangelista commended the promoted officers, highlighting their dedication and service to the community.
 
“Ang pagtaas ng inyong ranggo ay pagkilala sa inyong kahusayan at hindi matatawarang serbisyo sa ating bayan,” Evangelista said.

He emphasized that each new rank comes with a bigger responsibility.
 
“Ang bawat bagong ranggo na inyong isusuot o sinuot ay sumisimbolo sa mas mataas na antas ng responsibilidad, pagsisilbi, at pagkakataon upang makagawa ng mas magagandang gawain sa ating organisasyon,” he added.

The promotions encompassed various ranks, including 217 new Police Corporals, 461 Staff Sergeants, 637 Master Sergeants, 147 Senior Master Sergeants, 327 Chief Master Sergeants, 219 Executive Master Sergeants, 97 Lieutenants, 32 Captains, 17 Majors, and two Lieutenant Colonels.
 
This promotion wave reflects PRO-1's commitment to personnel development, aligning with General Evangelista's seven-point "S.E.C.U.R.E.D." agenda, which prioritizes compassion for Philippine National Police personnel.
 
Alongside the main ceremony, 264 newly promoted officers in the Regional Support Units took their oaths on the same day.
 
Police Lieutenant Rowena Coloma, from the Ilocos Norte Police Provincial Office (INPPO), expressed her gratitude for the promotion, acknowledging its significance for her career growth.
 
She pledged to leverage her new leadership role to serve the community more effectively.
 
“More on siguro accountability, ‘yung ano tapos talagang titignan natin ‘yong morality welfare din ng mga tao natin kasi as a commission officer, ‘yong mga subordinates mo kailangan nila ng guidance talaga. Hindi lang ‘yong pansarili mo pero more on sa mga tao sa baba na iga-guide mo sila para ‘yong common goal natin, ma-achieve natin,” Coloma stated.
