Cagayan distributes over P3.8-M aid to farmers, fisherfolk hit by Supertyphoon Egay

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan (PIA) --  The provincial government of Cagayan has released over P3.834 million in financial assistance to 3,834 farmers and fishermen who were badly hit by Supertyphoon Egay (international name: Doksuri) in July 2023.

Each beneficiary received a thousand pesos.

Provincial agriculturist  Pearlita P. Mabasa, said of the 3,834 beneficiaries, 411 are from Tuguegarao City, 1,181 are from Iguig, and 1,753 are from Peñablanca.

Mabasa said the payout shows that the provincial government has not reneged on its obligation to attend to the welfare of farmers and fishermen in times of disasters and calamities.

According to Mabasa, beneficiaries who were not able to receive their assistance during the payout may claim it at the Provincial Treasury Office (PTO).

“We are very thankful to the provincial government for always reaching out to our corn farmers here in our city,” said Tuguegarao City Mayor Maila Ting-Que in her message during the payout held at the People’s Gymnasium. (ALM/MDCT/PIA Cagayan)
