Ilocos Region police report strong anti-crime gains in March

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union (PIA) – Police Regional Office 1 (PRO 1) displayed strong results in their fight against crime during March, according to their monthly accomplishment report.
 
From March 1 to 31, 2024, PRO 1 apprehended a total of 358 wanted individuals in the Ilocos Region.
 
This includes 27 listed as most wanted persons and 331 categorized as other wanted persons.
 
In the campaign against illegal drugs, officers conducted 98 operations, arresting 118 suspects.
 
They seized a significant amount of narcotics, including over 1,045.10 grams of shabu, 137.35 grams of marijuana, and 0.50 grams of kush.
 
The confiscated drugs have a combined estimated value of P13,454,434.28.
 
Additionally, PRO 1's efforts led to the surrender of 11 drug personalities.
 
PRO 1 also tackled loose firearms with 26 operations, apprehending 21 violators and confiscating their firearms.
 
Furthermore, authorities received the surrender of 110 firearms, 34 unexploded ordnances (UXOs), and 301 ammunition.
 
Their anti-illegal gambling efforts yielded positive results as well.
 
Forty-six operations led to the arrest of 161 individuals and the confiscation of P74,074.00 in betting money.
 
Authorities have already filed 45 cases in court.
 
Maintaining stability in the region's internal security, PRO 1 facilitated the surrender of 66 members of communist terrorist groups and communist front organizations.
 
These individuals surrendered with 11 firearms and six UXOs.
 
Police Brigadier General Lou Evangelista, PRO 1 regional director, attributed these accomplishments to the force's dedication to achieving a secure region.
 
He emphasized the importance of their seven-focused agenda, particularly the strategic approach to crime prevention and solution activities, and the robust quad concept for police operations.
 
General Evangelista further encouraged his personnel to maintain their hard work and support the leadership of the 30th Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief, Police General Rommel Francisco Marbil.
 
He emphasized, "Let's intensify our campaign against crime and support our esteemed Chief PNP, Police General Rommel Francisco Marbil, for a safe new Philippines." (JCR/AMB/PIA Region 1)
