DTI holds ‘Diskwento Caravan’ in Zamboanga Sibugay

OLUTANGA, Zamboanga Sibugay (PIA) -- The Department of Trade (DTI) Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Office recently organized a “Diskwento Caravan” in Barangay Solar in Olutanga town.

The initiative is meant to support the Muslim community members fasting during Ramadan. However, it is also open to consumers of all religious backgrounds, aiming to provide essential goods and commodities at discounted prices.

Arnel Joy Ruste, chairman of Barangay Solar, conveyed his appreciation for the initiative, highlighting the importance of acquiring goods at a discounted price and how such opportunities benefit the residents of the barangay.

“We are thankful that DTI made an effort to come up with this activity that will benefit the residents of Barangay Solar. The discounted prices are of great help, especially during these challenging times,” Ruste said.

By offering essential goods at discounted rates, the event alleviated financial strain on individuals and families during the fasting period, enabling them to meet their dietary needs without overspending.

A total of 452 consumers benefited from the initiative, which involved the participation of four manufacturers, further enhancing accessibility to discounted goods.

The collaboration between DTI, the local government of Olutanga, and the barangay local government of Solar underscored the commitment to supporting individuals during significant religious observances like Ramadan.

Such initiatives not only address immediate consumer needs but also foster community resilience and cohesion through collective action. (KSA/RVC/EDT/RBI/PIA9-Zamboanga Sibugay)
