SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union  (PIA) — Two drug personalities were successfully apprehended after joint buy-bust operations by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 1 and the Police Regional Office 1 (PRO 1) this week.
 
On April 2, PDEA Region 1 Director Joel Plaza reported that a 38-year-old male was apprehended in Agoo town for peddling suspected shabu worth P6,800.

Authorities were also able to confiscate the suspect’s mobile phone, a tricycle, and the buy-bust money.
 
A 21-year-old male was also arrested in Balaoan town on April 4, with authorities able to seize around one kilogram of dried marijuana leaves worth P120,000 from the apprehended personality.
 
Also seized from the suspect during the operation was a black wallet, a motorcycle, a mobile phone, and the buy-bust money.
 
Both apprehended personalities have since been transferred to the PDEA Region 1 detention facility in this city where they are currently detained.
 
A case of violation of Section 5, Article II of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002  will be filed against the suspects.

Police Colonel Benigno Sumawang, chief of PRO 1’s Regional Public Information Office, says that the apprehensions serve as a testament to the government’s push to eradicate the use and peddling of illegal drugs in La Union.
 
“This apprehension serves as a strong message that the Philippine National Police remains steadfast in its commitment to eradicate illegal drugs and maintain peace and order within the community,” Sumawang said.
 
PRO 1 and PDEA 1 also vow to continue to implement efficient and effective operations as a way to ensure the security and safety of the public from dangerous and illegal drugs. (JCR/AMB/CCMT, PIA La Union)
