Metro Manila students gear up for DOST scholarship exam with review sessions

MANILA, (PIA) -- The Department of Science and Technology's National Capital Region office (DOST-NCR) is offering intensive review sessions to prepare Metro Manila students for the upcoming DOST Undergraduate Scholarship Program examination.

The program, administered by the DOST's Science Education Institute (SEI), provides financial support to students pursuing priority science and technology degrees in accredited institutions. These can be state universities or private colleges recognized for excellence by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

DOST-NCR has partnered with the University of the Philippines Los Baños - DOST Scholars Society to conduct review classes covering English, physics, math, and reasoning skills. The sessions aim to equip students with the knowledge and test-taking strategies needed to succeed in the exam scheduled for April 6-7, 2024.

All four DOST-NCR cluster offices – CAMANAVA CASTO, PAMAMAZON CASTO, PAMAMARISAN CASTO, and MUNTAPARLAS CASTO – have mobilized to organize review sessions across various high schools in Metro Manila.

Hundreds of students from schools like Caloocan Science High School, Manila Science High School, and Las Piñas National High School have participated.

DOST scholars receive a monthly stipend, tuition fee subsidy, learning materials allowance, health insurance, and other benefits.

After graduation, they are required to work in the Philippines for a period equivalent to their scholarship duration, ideally in their field of specialization.

DOST-NCR encourages Metro Manila students with a passion for science and technology to take advantage of the scholarship program and the available review sessions.

This initiative highlights the agency's commitment to fostering the next generation of Filipino scientists and innovators.
