Mine firm awards infra projects to 4 barangays in Vizcaya

KASIBU, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) — A mining firm operating in this town has turned-over various infrastructure projects to four barangays here.

These infrastructure projects are the 6 meter by 12 meter Health Center, 6.0 meter Farm to Market Road and improvement of canal line  in barangay Macalong and a Multi-Purpose Building each in barangays Malabing, Alloy and Kongkong.

Lawyer Joan Adaci-Cattiling, OceanaGold (Philippines), Inc. president and general manager for external affairs and social performance, said the infrastructure projects which were requested by barangay officials and their villagers were funded under the Didipio Mine’s Community Development Fund.

She thanked the  communities for welcoming the Didipio Mine and for the partnership to deliver the projects.

"On behalf of the Didipio Mine, I would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude for opening your hearts to us, for opening your doors for partnerships, for allowing us to share and give back to the community,” Adaci-Cattiling said.

She also encouraged barangay officials and villagers to give feedback on the mining operations including ways and means to  deliver the community projects better to them, among others.

“We are more than grateful for the support we continue to receive, and we are excited with what we can continue to achieve with this opportunity of working together for the good of our communities,”  Adaci-Cattiling said.

Meanwhile, James Tolentino, a resident of barangay Macalong who witnessed the groundbreaking program for the project, said they are grateful for the realization of the said community project.

“This Health Center, along with other infrastructure projects, will benefit our villagers who have long been clamoring for these. Our barangay cannot have these kinds of projects due to limited resources,” Tolentino said. (ALM/BME/PIA NVizcaya)
