Tuguegarao City rolls out blended learning amid high heat index

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan (PIA) -- In response to the anticipated effects of the looming El Niño phenomenon and the soaring temperatures experienced in the city, all classes in Tuguegarao's public schools, from kindergarten to senior high school, are set to adopt a blended learning modality starting April 4, 2024.

This decision was reached during a joint meeting of the Local School Board and Local Health Board spearheaded by City Mayor Maila S. Ting-Que.

“This proactive approach underscores the city's commitment in protecting the well-being of students and educators in the face of the unpredictable and often harsh environmental conditions brought about by the El Niño phenomenon,” Ting-Que said.

According to the agreement, school hours will be from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with modular or online classes conducted in the afternoon, Monday through Friday, from April 4 to May 6, 2024.

The mayor advised all teachers to avoid outdoor activities and to let students wear light-colored clothing during the implementation of blended learning.

She also reminded students that they shall not be allowed to enter malls and similar recreational establishments during school hours and weekdays.
