MANILA, (PIA) -- The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF)-NCR Regional Office, led by Regional Director Dimapuno A. Datu-Ramos, Jr. thru Chief Junainah D. Nuska, attended the 1st "Ramadhan Iftar By The Ship" aboard the BRP Melchora Aquino (MMRV-9702) at Philippine Coast Guard Headquarters, Port Area, City of Manila.

It was a momentous experience to participate in the historic grand Iftar on the 25th Ramadhan 1445 Hijrah/5th April 2024 to be celebrated in one of the biggest ships of the Philippine Coast Guard through the initiative of the Philippine Coast Guard Chaiplancy Operating Unit led by Capt. Alicman Sarip Borowa for the Muslim community.

The newly-appointed commander of the PCG, Admiral Ronnie Gil Latorilla Gavan together with former PCG commander Joel Garcia, who is Muslim revert himself, graced the occasion.

They reflected on the PCG's accomplishment for having the most number of Muslim workers, employing around 4,300 in its roll or about 15 percent of its total workforce which is the highest compared with the other services of the government. Thus, they are happy to share the Iftar with the Muslim community in this year's Ramadhan.

The Harmony and Wisdom Foundation from the Turkish community led by Dr. Abdulhamit Dorakoglu and Calil Dimangadap, a former NCMF-NCR Division Chief, hosted the sumptous Turkish dinner for the participants. Afterwards, a tour of the ship was made, showing the ships capability as well as its recent activities, especially, in the West Philippine Sea.

Attending with Chief Nuska were staff Sowaib Hassan, Hientjie T. Panotolan, Lafayette Alonto, and Mamintal Nuska.
Alhamdulillah. (NCMF/PIA-NCR)
