BALER, Aurora (PIA) -- About 100 former rebels in the province of Aurora participated in a two-day skills training provided by the government.
The attendees, who are members of 14 people’s organizations (POs), learned how to make processed meat such as tocino and longganisa as well as smoked fish, salted eggs and pineapple jam.
91st Infantry Battalion (91st IB) Commander Lieutenant Colonel Julito Recto Jr. said the training seeks to provide livelihood opportunities to returnees to uplift their lives and community.
“We wish for the success of their businesses but it depends on how they manage it,” Recto pressed.
To aid them, a total of P500,000 worth of livelihood starter kits were awarded to the attendees.
The kits included a steamer, casserole/saucepan, utility tray, mixing bowl, measuring cups and spoon, mixing paddles, gas stove with tank, weighing scale with stainless steel tray, and meat slicer.
